Barbering instructional video project
AC1 Informing Ideas
Who is the client?
The client for this brief are barber students aged 16-18. I will need to create an instructional video on a certain hairstyle for them to watch. They will be expecting an easy to follow instructional video about a unique hairstyle. The video will also have to include equipment used to cut the hair. The video will be about 5-10 minutes long. The due date for this is 24th May and the resubmission date is 14th June.
Audience Profile
The audience for the product are barber students aged 16-18. In order for my audience to appeal to the audience my videos I will need to add the typical codes and conventions in the charity advert. These include: subtitles, voiceovers, POV shots etc. The key topics which I am going to include will be how you do the specific haircut given and what tools you will need to perform the certain haircut. This video will be available on the college website. This relates to the audiences needs as it is specifically for the students at Sunderland college. Therefore the video will be specifically for them. With the barbering qualification the students can go onto working as a barber full time.

This is an example of a useful tutorial as it is very informative. This is because there is more than one person giving out
Instructions and they are all very informative. They speak very clearly and are easy to understand. The people in the video also seem very friendly which would help the audience out as well as their channel as the audience may return back to their channel in the future for more tutorials.
Throughout the video they only use a medium close up. This is because they are just explaining how to make a tutorial video there're not actually showing you. They also haven't used any background sounds so you can clearly understand what they are saying.

This video is a barbering tutorial. It lasts roughly 5 minutes. The man in the video who is cutting the customers hair goes through the process slowly so that the audience can watch and learn clearly. However the man making the video doesn't speak at all. He has used text and no copyright music. This is the type of guidance on a tutorial that I will be making for the client. This is also helpful as if he made a voiceover then some people may have had trouble understanding him. Another good thing about the tutorial is that the man doesn't waste time explaining things and boring the client at the start. He just gets straight to the point at the beginning of the video. This is the type of thing that I need to be looking at as it is more appealing to the audience if you make a short video thats pretty much straight to the point of the purpose of the video.
The barber often uses a close up camera angle. This is extremely helpful as you can see what part of the hair is being cut and how the barber is cutting it.
This is another close up. This time its at the back of the head. This is also to show the hair getting cut at a close range.
At the end of the video a looking room angle is used to show the final product. This is a good angle to use as it shows each part of the hair that has been cut with just one shot. This is probably what I'm going to use for my tutorial video.
